Allcooper are very proud to reveal that we have a finalist in this year's Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards!
We'd like to say a huge congratulations to Jonathan Ashmead, a Security Systems Apprentice here at Allcooper, for being named as a finalist in the 'Construction Apprentice of the Year' category.
Jonathan (or Jonny to us!) is 20 years old and has been with Allcooper for over two years. In his role as a Security Systems Apprentice, Jonny is responsible for installing a range of security systems into domestic homes and commercial businesses.
Jonny's Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship incorporates two key methods of learning. As a full-time member of the Allcooper team, he develops his skills through ‘on-the-tools’ experience of working directly for Allcooper. Depending on the scale of a given security project, he has been allocated to work alongside some of our most experienced engineers, as well as also being given the opportunity to undertake jobs as the lead engineer. This hands-on experience is reinforced by study at SGS College, where he attends on block release to work towards completing the theoretical aspect of his apprenticeship.
Perhaps one of the most amazing demonstrations of Jonny's rapid progress, is that despite still being an apprentice, he has been given the trust and responsibility of carrying out installation work on his own, without the support of senior engineers. In fact, he has even been allocated fellow apprentices to support him as the lead engineer on several jobs - quite remarkable!
Since his very first day with the company, Jonny has shown an extraordinary desire to learn and develop his own ideas and skills for the benefit of our customers and the team around him. Whenever he has been presented with a new challenge, he has excelled. This has included working on some of our most valuable projects within a variety of complex environments - both for commercial and domestic customers.
In March 2017, Jonny was selected by Allcooper to compete against fellow security apprentices from across the UK in the ‘Engineers of Tomorrow’ competition, which will be taking place at this year’s IFSEC International Security Exhibition in June.
The Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards night will take place at Cheltenham Racecourse on 6th July 2017.
Congratulations to all of the finalists who will be vying for awards on the evening. Click here for the full list of finalists and more information about the event.
We'll let you know how he gets on!
