How it all began

Allcooper was founded in the spring of 1987 by father and son, Gary and Gerard Cooper. At the time, Gary had recently retired from a 35 year career with Unilever, whilst Gerard was working as a qualified electrician for a company that sold electronic alarm systems.

Inspired by his experiences of fitting and repairing alarm systems, Gerard set out to create a family business, specialising exclusively in security. With the support of the family and a small business start-up allowance, Gerard and Gary began ‘Allcooper Alarms’.

Allcooper was founded over 30 years ago

Only a few months after the company was registered, Gerard’s brother, Roman Cooper, joined the newly-established family firm as an apprentice. Whilst Gary focused on sales and developing the business, Gerard and Roman worked together installing and maintaining the alarm systems.

The company wanted to provide the best customer care, use the best tools and equipment for the job, be flexible, responsive, right first time and available 24/7. With these values at the forefront of the Allcooper business, in the years that followed, the company grew steadily in size and reputation, introducing new products, gaining industry accreditations and moving into its first premises.

GROWING THE BUSINESS

As the company grew, Allcooper took on its first staff members from outside the family. Subsequent growth in sales and customers meant the business could work towards gaining further accreditations and relocating to a larger office space in Gloucester.

Several high-profile projects were awarded to Allcooper during this time, expanding the client base outside of Gloucestershire - to the surrounding counties, London and even the South of France.

Natural growth across the company was supported by the acquisitions of Meridian Surveillance Systems (2013) and Executive Security (2015).

RECENT YEARS

Fast forward to present day, Allcooper has grown to become a widely-respected and well-known fire and security provider. Fully-accredited to NSI Gold standard and employing over 100 staff, the business continues to develop and expand whilst protecting thousands of homeowners and businesses.

Allcooper announced in 2015 that it had acquired a new premises at Kingsholm, Gloucester, which would become its new head office. The business relocated in June 2017 following a major refurbishment of the site, a former car dealership just a drop-kick away from Gloucester Rugby's famous Kingsholm Stadium.

ACQUISTION BY SECURITAS

On 1st April 2019, Allcooper became part of Securitas - the leading global security services provider. This was not a new relationship. We had worked with Securitas as one of their main technology partners for six previous years, helping design, install and maintain electronic systems into many large and complex sites.
