Employing, training and developing apprentices has been a crucial part of Allcooper's heritage throughout our 30 years in business.
We have taken on over 50 apprentices since the firm was founded. Many of these apprentices have risen to occupy management roles within the company or have obtained recognised positons within the security industry. The company has continued to invest substantially into providing a unique and comprehensive learning experience for our apprentices, and we take great care in ensuring they are provided with the resources and training required for a successful and long-standing career.
Our apprentices benefit from a mixture of on-the-job experience and College-based learning. The investment in our apprentices has without doubt brought huge value to our business, whilst providing many benefits to our apprentices themselves.
“I chose the apprenticeship route because I can earn whilst I learn. After I complete the apprenticeship, I will have qualifications recognised nationally and finish with a great job. Allcooper is a great company to work for because the work is interesting and there's opportunities to work abroad! It has helped my career by giving me theory knowledge at college and practical knowledge on the job.”
- Louis, Security Systems Apprentice
"I chose an apprenticeship because I liked the idea of gaining a qualification and commercial experience at the same time as being paid. The apprenticeship programme let me put what I was learning at college into practice in a working environment, which I feel put me in good stead for passing my exams. Allcooper fully-funded and supported my progress through my three years of AAT. My Line Manager was a vital part in my progression and learning, and I felt that I was being encouraged to reach my full potential. Since joining Allcooper in May 2011, I have been promoted from Finance Apprentice to Finance Team Leader, and now Managing Accountant. I have gained experience managing a team of six staff and now produce detailed financial reports for the Board of Directors."
- Laura, Management Accountant and former Apprentice
Someone who knows all about the benefits offered by an apprenticeship is Allcooper Executive Director, Roman Cooper. After starting with the family business as an apprentice himself back in 1987, Roman has spent his entire career championing apprenticeships. He has given opportunities to countless young people in the county through the Allcooper apprenticeship scheme, and through his connections with local colleges, education providers and the GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership.
For consecutive years, Allcooper are proud to have received recognition for our apprenticeship scheme at the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards. In 2013, the company stood out above several other local organisations to claim the award for 'Apprenticeship Development'. The following year, Allcooper were named 'Employer of the Year' for apprenticeship employers with over 25 staff. Our most recent award recognises an 'Outstanding Contribution to Apprenticeships' in Gloucestershire. This was presented to Roman Cooper in July 2015.
