IT infrastructure gives education sector competitive edge as institutions look to attract students and staff.

Allcooper Converge, the specialist integrated services division of Gloucester-based leading IT, security and fire specialists Allcooper, have recently won a number of significant contracts in the education sector, further developing its strength in this market. Recent additions to its portfolio includes: Cheltenham Ladies College, Stroud High School for Girls and St Peter’s High School.

Schools and colleges throughout the UK are increasingly finding that technology is a critical tool in teaching. Today’s students not only rely on the internet to carry out their research, they also progressively using more advanced technology in a wide range of school projects.

According to Martyn Smith, Allcooper Converge director: “Laptops are commonplace in classrooms but equipment such as video technology and even weather tracking devices, are beginning to be used more and more.

“Technology is both raising the standards of achievement and improving the quality of learning and, as technology advances, teaching institutions need to evolve in order to maintain standards and, in an increasingly competitive market such as education, schools are looking to attract both staff and students.”

Allcooper Converge has targeted local schools and, according to the company, the development of technology infrastructures will help educational establishments keep abreast of these advancements.

According to Smith, the one-stop-shop approach involves installing interactive whiteboards, audio and visual equipment and, in many cases, entire IP networks.

Smith comments: “The recent projects we have been involved in are excellent examples of the way the education sector is embracing technology advancements. We have supplied and installed a wide range of equipment to relatively small primary schools, such as Severnbanks primary school, to large private schools like Cheltenham Ladies College. As Allcooper grows we will continue to service this area of the market on a local and national basis.”
